Our origins
and reason for being
Semillas El Solc is a family company from Lleida, based in Almacelles and specialized in the production and sale of forage seeds.
Semillas El Solc was founded by Enric Martí, creator and soul of the entire project. Raised in a family of farmers, Enric has always had a passion for agriculture, with a broad knowledge of the local environment. With a degree in agricultural engineering and hardly more than twenty years old, he discovered the productive potential of the lands of the Ebre Valley and, in 1976, created the seed company Semillas El Solc.
Drawing on the virtues of a prime location with effort, work and perseverance, Enric began to work with forage seeds, promoting a rational, sustainable and environmentally friendly way of farming.
Nearly 50 years later, and still sticking to his origins, Enric’s dedication and enthusiasm have led him to direct a team of over 30 people with broad technical expertise and knowledge of the area.

What we do
Currently, at Semillas El Solc we select and multiply our own plant varieties and lead the sector with over 6,000 hectares of national internal production. Our specialization in the sector has turned us into national and international leaders.
Even more, we operate our own improvement centre and laboratory where we work day after day in the selection of new varieties, offering personalized advising to farmers and herders alike. As of now, we have over 30 varieties of the main forage species registered in the Community Catalogue of Agricultural Varieties.

How we work
Via an automated process, we select and certify our seeds in accordance with all standards and technical specifications. In this way we guarantee the excellent quality of our sowing seed. From the plant in Almacelles to the world, we commercialize our product without borders.

Quality and speed
In the line of continuing to improve to adapt to new market demands, we work on a daily basis to improve our facilities and guarantee our commitment to providing farmers with quality seedings and reducing order delivery time.
Accordingly, we have designed a new seed selection and certification plant. A new road we have embarked upon with excitement and drive, while never forgetting the inheritance and values of El Solc: commitment, respect, tradition and, now, also modernity and sustainability.
